| | Shelley Cina is a Certified Massage Therapist with more than 20 years of experience. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Fine Arts from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1981. In the field of Bodywork, Shelley holds Certificates of Completion from the Healing Arts School of Massage in St. Louis, Missouri (one-year program of private training in Swedish, Deep Tissue and Pregnancy Massage); the Ohashi Institute in New York City (study of Wataru Ohashi's Ohashiatsu program); the Nanjing College of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Nanjing China (Acupuncture, Moxibustion and Qigong Massage); the Nanjing Normal University, Nanjing China (one-year Martial Arts program); and Kamille's Garden Medical Center, Buga Valle, Colombia (Anatomy and Physiology study). Ms. Cina has created a fusion between Western and Eastern Massage forms, and has formulated unique pain relieving techniques from her years of training and experience in both Eastern and Western styles. Additionally, she has personal interest and training in Jungian psychology, especially as pertains to the study of dreams, and has attended seminars at the Jungian Institute in Kusnacht, Switzerland. She has ongoing interest and study of Eastern philosophy, particularly in Zen, Taoism, and the I-Ching. Other interests and experience include yoga, metaphysics, and vibrational healing techniques using gem stones, plant essences, sound, visualization, breath, movement, and meditation. MASSAGE SERVICES Treasure Mountain offers many types of massage. The list below explains the different types of massage therapy that can be applied according to individual need or preference. Shelley Cina would be happy to discuss the particular form that is right for you. Custom Massage: Massage specifically designed for individuals, drawing on a variety of different techniques according to need. Deep Tissue Massage: Deep pressure applied with the elbows, forearms and hands affecting the deeper layers of muscle and the surface fascia to relax tension and release stagnation. Hot Stone Massage: A modern form of an ancient therapy using heated stones as a massage medium. Shiatsu Massage: A Japanese form of massage utilizing pressure applied with the thumbs, palms, elbows, knees or feet to acupoints and channels, along with stretches and assisted movements to create a sense of balance and well-being in mind and body. Swedish Massage: Characterized by long gliding strokes, kneading-like manipulations and tapping or chopping movements with light to medium pressure given with the hands.
